Would you like to become a Qualified Coach?

Short Mat Bowls Needs YOU

The ESMBA together with Coachbowls are looking to run the following Short Mat specific courses during this year and would like to assess the interest in your county.

Coach Bowls NVQ – Level 1 (at least two courses per year)

Information regarding course content can be found at www.coachbowls.org

The course is part online via 2 x 3hr separate Zoom meetings and one day practical face-to-face (9am – 5pm). This includes homeworking at your club, completion of a portfolio and then a final face-to-face assessment. The cost is £150 plus Coachbowls membership of £15 per annum (first year included in course fee). The ESMBA will, depending on numbers, look to reimburse the £150 to the individual on completing and passing the course criteria. The location of the practical takes into consideration numbers and where the majority are based.

The normal number of candidates for each course is 12, however Coach Bowls have agreed to consider running a course with a minimum of 6 candidates providing we supply the venue and equipment (1 mat per 3 candidates).

Please let me know if you may be able to provide a suitable venue as we could then draw enough candidates together from neighbouring counties to help keep the cost of travelling down for the candidates.

It should be remembered that the course is a teaching how to coach course not how to play bowls and would suit anyone who wishes to follow a coaching path or those who only hold the ESMBA1 qualification and wish to gain a wider recognition.

Coach Bowls NVQ – Level 2 (at least one course per year)

Information regarding course content can be found at www.coachbowls.org

The course is part online via 3 x 3hr separate Zoom meetings and a two day practical face-to-face. This includes homeworking at your club, completion of a portfolio and then a final face-to-face assessment. The cost is £235 plus Coachbowls membership of £15 per annum.

It may be possible for some people to be enrolled directly onto the Level 2 course if Coach Bowls considers that they have a suitable level of prior learning etc.

Depending on numbers, the ESMBA may be able to reimburse some of the fee to the individual on completing and passing the course criteria. The location of the practical would potentially be held in Solihull but depends on where the majority are based.

Any individuals interested should contact Martin McGregor for further details and declare their interest at coachingdirector@esmba.co.uk or by telephone 07771 983345.
