England Squad Selection

Congratulations to 4 of our members who have been selected;
For England Main Squad: Saul Featherstone (Defford)
For England Ladies Squad: Monica Carter (Ripple), Carole Preece (Ripple) and Jo Featherstone (Defford).

At the helm for this upcoming season for the England Main Squad is Chris Willies as the new England Main Squad Manger, supported by Tommy Caines as England Main Squad Assistant Manager. Whilst at the England Ladies Squad, Lynn Dean will continue as the England Ladies Squad Manager.

Under the new leadership of Chris and Tommy, they promise a new era for the squad(s) with changes they will be making. Shortly after the announcement in March, this new team created a separate Facebook page for the Team; filled with videos, reels and updates to promote the sport and keep people connected in the 4 short months it has been created.

Season 2025-26 will be a big year for all of our players who will be returning to the England Squads; all 4 have had the honour of representing England before in both national and international arenas.

January 2026 will see the return of the annual Ladies British Isles Championships, taking place in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This Championship for the Ladies of the four home nations – England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales – will be celebrating its 3rd birthday, with each entering teams of 26 players to compete in two different playing formats (Team & Individual Championships). In the previous 2 years, amongst the 3 ladies there have been two runner up titles in the Team Championships, one runner up titles in the Individual Championships and one winning Championship Title (2023 Ladies British Isles Fours). With the Ireland Ladies having taken all the winning titles in 2024, the England Ladies are even more hungry for the wins this year.

Towards the end of the season in March 2026, the bi-annual Short Mat Bowls World Championships will be taking place in Norway. Saul Featherstone will hope to be selected once again to defend the Individual Pairs title he and Ryan Knight (previously of Gloucestershire, now Hampshire) won in the 2024 World Championships.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!
