Hi folks
It was a really good evening of bowls for the finals of this years Summer league. 2 Yorkley teams had qualified as winners of both division and were joined by Longhope and Kingsway, who had battled through from the play off round last week.
Plenty of supporters from all the clubs + a contingent from Westbury. it was particularly nice to see so many of our own members their to support us.
The first games saw Kingsway on top against Longhope 8-4 whilst our 2 teams played each other. The Kestrels started well and were 3 up after 2 ends before Julian and Judy made life hard for us and ran out easy winners 8-3.
In the second round, The Kestrels finally got our act together, comfortably beating Longhope 9-4. However the Falcons went down heavily to Kingsway 8-1. This left Kingsway in a strong position with one game to go.
The Falcons had a tight match with Longhope, just dropping a 2 on the last end to lose 7-5
So it was all to play for in the other game and the Kestrels started with a ‘6’ for that all important bonus point and went on to win 12-4 and win the trophy, for the 2nd time in 3 years.
Well done to everyone who took part in the league this summer, lets hope we can carry on this way into the winter season
