Wiltshire Fours Success!

Following on from our recent success at the Oxford 3 Wood Pairs, the cream of Gloucestershire descended upon North Wilts Indoor Bowling Club to compete in the Wiltshire Fours. Representing Ripple/Defford, Deer Park Archers, and the Bowling Badgers, our teams each played four round-robin games in what proved to be a competitive and enjoyable day of bowls.

Congratulations to Saul and the Badgers, who emerged victorious with four wins and an impressive margin overall. Runners-up on the day were Loddon Vale, who delivered a strong performance, including a convincing win over Deer Park Archers. The Archers themselves secured two wins and a draw (against Ripple), rounding off a solid showing.

A big thank you goes to Karen Kirby for organising a brilliantly run tournament – timed to the minute!

Sunday at North Wilts – Australian Pairs

Back to North Wilts on Sunday—this time for the ever-entertaining Australian Pairs, you know, the one where you’re constantly swapping ends muttering “2-4-2” under your breath.

Representing on the day were teams from Kingsway (Jennings), Badgers (Featherstone), Deer Park Archers (Thomas & Kellett), and Upton (Sparrow & Pearse). Despite a strong effort, the best we could manage was three wins across the board.

Top honours went to our friends from Woolhope, who notched up four wins. The spoils were shared between Downend and Loddon Vale, both with well-fought draws.

We’re already looking forward to seeing Woolhope again in November for the McMillan—weather permitting, of course!
