14 Teams turned up at Kingsway for the County Championship Over 55 Pairs Competition.
All the paperwork was prepared in advance by Saul which made it easy for Phil Jennings to be compère on the day as well as play in the event.
The teams were whittled down to 8 in 4 round robins with 2 qualifying from each group going forward to the knockout stage. It was an enjoyable day played in a friendly yet competitive spirit.
The final between the current champions, Phil Jennings & Ian Broderick and Stewart Minchew and Gill Johnson was won by the latter after quite a tight game that finished 9 to 7 after the 9 ends / played with the lead changing hands and both teams having the chance to win the game with their last bowl.
As both finalists opted not to go forward to the Nationals, Saul will need to notify those who qualified when advised of the number of County places allocated.
The first qualifier should be Neil Tappin & Robert Newbury who reached the Semi- Final stage but Saul will need to confirm this.
