The Penultimate County Championships Discipline, The Fours, took place on Saturday with the usual vigour and enthusiasm that have been evident throughout the previous four competitions. Oohs and ahs echoed around the venue as shots both found their mark and narrowly missed their targets.
Bowling in Gloucestershire was once again at its best, but as always, there has to be winners. On the day, two teams from Defford contested the top two places. Carole English, Dave Yendole, Mike Sparrow and Mike Dooley emerging victorious. They edged out Jane Shepherd, Lesley Clark, Trevor Clark and Kenny Hicks by just one point in a closely fought contest.
It should also be noted that, despite losing his two little helpers to an England International Competition in Ireland and also whilst suffering from a Gum Infection the organiser carried on with his duties admirably.
All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable day for every one involved.
