With a convincing points lead from the 1st leg of the Brunel Cup played on 1st September, Gloucestershire had a huge task on their hands, to retain the cup, on 16th November at Kingsway.
It was a well fought battle with some very tight games in all four formats of the match.
With a combined points score of Avon 47, Gloucestershire 33, we handed the cup on to Avon for the first time in the trophy’s history of the past 3 years.
The Avon captain has also suggested that an additional engraving should be added to the cup in dedication to Judith Sawyer who was the Avon team captain at the introduction of the Brunel Cup matches. Gloucestershire wholeheartedly agree with this Judith has since suffered a “stroke” but keeps in touch with the match via video
We look forward to continuing the Brunel Cup challenge in 2025/26
Monica,
Gloucestershire team captain
