The County Triples competition was successfully completed today, with 16 teams from across the county taking part, making it a perfectly balanced and highly competitive event.
The competition was extremely well supported, not least by Wotton Hall, who appeared to field a strong presence from across their club. From the outset, the standard of play was high, with a number of very closely fought matches. The round-robin stage proved particularly dramatic, going right down to the final bowl of the final end to determine the points difference and confirm the qualifying teams.
A good spread of clubs from across the county progressed through to the knockout stages, reflecting the depth of talent on show throughout the day.
The final was contested between Defford’s Trevor, Lesley and Jane, and Tewkesbury’s Stewart, Gill and Glyn. After an excellent match, Tewkesbury emerged victorious to take the title.
Overall, it was another smoothly run and well-delivered tournament, enjoyed by all who took part.
We now look ahead to the Fours competition on the 17th — see you there.
