Summer League

Team Structure & Player Eligibility

  • Teams consist of 4 players.
  • Players may play for any team within their club but cannot represent multiple clubs.
  • A player may participate in a number of games equal to the total number of league games one team can play.
  • Teams can change players between each game during a fixture (which consists of 3 games).

Fixture Format

  • Each fixture consists of 4 teams, playing round-robin matches.
  • Each match consists of 7 ends, with each team playing 3 games per fixture.
  • A 10-minute break will be taken between games 2 and 3.
  • Fixtures must be played within the timescale set by the League Secretary.
  • Standard start time: between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM.
  • Alternative times (morning/afternoon) may be played only by mutual agreement of all teams involved.

Match Rules

  • No trial ends.
  • If the jack is knocked off the mat, the non-offending team is awarded 2 shots, except on the final end, where they can choose between taking 2 shots or replaying the end.
  • No 3s up—skips may visit the head at any time.

Scoring System

  • 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw.
  • Bonus Points:
    • A team scoring 6 or more shots in a single end earns 1 bonus point.
    • A losing team that loses by just 1 shot earns 1 bonus point.

Fees & Responsibilities

  • Each team must pay a £10 match fee (£2.50 per player) to the host club.
  • The first-named team on the schedule is responsible for keeping the scorecard.
  • The second-named team has the choice of mat for the first end.
  • The host club must provide the scorecards for the fixture.

League & Playoff Structure

  • The league will be divided into two equal divisions.
  • Each team will play 2 home fixtures and 6 away fixtures (total 24 games).
  • Teams will rotate positions (A, B, C, D) across the season to ensure fairness.
  • Eliminator, play-off, and finals will take place in September.
