The game is played like other forms of the sport\, with full-sized bowls being used to bowl up and down the carpet. In just a few short years\, the sport has grown in popularity to over 100\,000 players\, and this popularity shows no signs of slowing down; many other parts of the world are taking up the sport and having fun! \nMen and women compete equally together\, so techniques are truly tested. DESCRIPTION:Our annual charity fund raising tournament in aid of Macmillan Cancer support will be held at Leominster leisure centre\, Bridge Street again this year. This year it is on Saturday 29th November 2025. \nEntry this year is £28.00 per team. Email your entry form to the county competition secretary on hsmbacompetitionsec@gmail.com and pay by bank transfer using the following details –  \nSort code 30-98-97\, account no 61819160\, account name HSMBA\, identify payment as Macmillan. \nThere is one guaranteed team for each club\, but clubs are invited to indicate how many further teams they would like to enter\, if places are available. However\, please DO NOT include money for any further teams at this stage. Once all entries have been received there will be a draw for any remaining places after all the guaranteed places have been allocated – match details\, playing times etc..\, will be forwarded to each club well in advance of the day.  \nIt is our intention that this tournament (which is open to registered and non-registered players) will provide the opportunity for bowlers\, to meet in a friendly and competitive atmosphere – to give everyone the chance to have a thoroughly enjoyable day\, whilst raising as much money as possible for the worthy cause. \nWith up to 40 teams playing – the match format will be teams of four\, playing two woods each; all teams will play four games to a timed format of 40 minutes per game\, with two points for a win and one point for a draw. \nTea\, coffee and cakes will be available throughout the day\, but everyone should bring their own lunch – there will be a separate room available for refreshments and the rest periods between games. \nThis is always a very popular competition and the support we have had in the past is very much appreciated\, but to ensure your place(s) please return your entry form as quickly as possible.

SUMMARY:WSMBA Charity Cup
DESCRIPTION:We are holding a short mat bowls tournament to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation on Saturday 7th February 2026 at Bromsgrove Indoor Bowls Club\, with a start time of 9.30am. \nThis event will be 3 bowl triples with maximum capacity for 16 teams to enter and all supporters welcome to come along and support your team on the day. \nAn entry fee of £30 will apply to secure your space in our first ever Charity Cup. \nWe will also be running a Raffle on the day to Raise Funds. DESCRIPTION:Our air-conditioned Washington Ballroom is an excellent venue for Short mat bowls. With space for up to 5 mats\, you can play whatever the weather! The game is played like other forms of the sport\, with full-sized bowls being used to bowl up and down the carpet. In just a few short years\, the sport has grown in popularity to over 100\,000 players\, and this popularity shows no signs of slowing down; many other parts of the world are taking up the sport and having fun! \nMen and women compete equally together\, so techniques are truly tested. A great family sport\, the ages of players range from 9 to over 90 (that we are aware of anyway!). \nThe Short Mat Bowls holidays held at Langstone Cliff are organised by Bob Weafer at www.short-mat-holidays.com.

DESCRIPTION:The English Masters is the fifth of six ranking events of the Short Mat Players Tour 2025-26 season. \n \n\nPlayers will be in groups of 5 or 6.\nThe top 2 players from each group will qualify for the main Cup.\nThird and Fourth placed players will qualify for the Plate.\nThe remaining players will qualify for the Shield.\nRegistration is from 7.45am-8.45am Practice is allowed from 8am-8.45am. Play commences at 9am.\nGroup games will be played on Saturday and Sunday morning with the knock-out stages following on Sunday afternoon.
