DESCRIPTION:Our air-conditioned Washington Ballroom is an excellent venue for Short mat bowls. With space for up to 5 mats\, you can play whatever the weather! The game is played like other forms of the sport\, with full-sized bowls being used to bowl up and down the carpet. In just a few short years\, the sport has grown in popularity to over 100\,000 players\, and this popularity shows no signs of slowing down; many other parts of the world are taking up the sport and having fun! \nMen and women compete equally together\, so techniques are truly tested. A great family sport\, the ages of players range from 9 to over 90 (that we are aware of anyway!). \nThe Short Mat Bowls holidays held at Langstone Cliff are organised by Bob Weafer at www.short-mat-holidays.com.

DESCRIPTION:Our annual charity fund raising tournament in aid of Macmillan Cancer support will be held at Leominster leisure centre\, Bridge Street again this year. This year it is on Sunday 24th November 2024. \nEntry this year is £28.00 per team. Email your entry form to the county competition secretary on hsmbacompetitionsec@gmail.com and pay by bank transfer using the following details –  \nSort code 30-98-97\, account no 61819160\, account name HSMBA\, identify payment as Macmillan. Alternatively post your entry form together with cheque payable to HSMBA to Rebecca Cox\, 2 Croft Cottages\, Little Tarrington\, Herefordshire\, HR1 4JD. \nThere is one guaranteed team for each club\, but clubs are invited to indicate how many further teams they would like to enter\, if places are available. However\, please DO NOT include money for any further teams at this stage. Once all entries have been received there will be a draw for any remaining places after all the guaranteed places have been allocated – match details\, playing times etc..\, will be forwarded to each club well in advance of the day.  \nIt is our intention that this tournament (which is open to registered and non-registered players) will provide the opportunity for bowlers\, to meet in a friendly and competitive atmosphere – to give everyone the chance to have a thoroughly enjoyable day\, whilst raising as much money as possible for the worthy cause. \nWith up to 40 teams playing – the match format will be teams of four\, playing two woods each; all teams will play four games to a timed format of 40 minutes per game\, with two points for a win and one point for a draw. \nTea\, coffee and cakes will be available throughout the day\, but everyone should bring their own lunch – there will be a separate room available for refreshments and the rest periods between games. \nThis is always a very popular competition and the support we have had in the past is very much appreciated\, but to ensure your place(s) please return your entry form as quickly as possible.  \nClosing date will be 10th 25th October 2024

DESCRIPTION:Our Autumn Short Mat Festival is another major event of the short mat calendar. You can choose to stay at either the TLH Derwent or the TLH Toorak Hotel while bowling daily on our indoor arena. We lay up to 16 mats on the arena which gives an excellent playing surface. There is lots of opportunity to bowl both as part of the triples competition as well as the optional pairs competition.

DESCRIPTION:It is traditionally the first ranking event of the season. \n \n\nPlayers will be in groups of 5 or 6.\nThe top 2 players from each group will qualify for the main Cup.\nThird and Fourth placed players will qualify for the Plate.\nThe remaining players will qualify for the Shield.\nSaturday: Registration is from 7.45am-8.45am.\nPractice is allowed from 8am-8.45am and play commences at 9am on both days.\nGroup games will be played on Saturday and Sunday morning with the knock-out stages following on Sunday afternoon.\nPlayers will be required to mark up to 3 games during the group stage and a knockout game.\n\nThe UK Open was first played in 2012 in Guildford before moving to Bromsgrove in 2013. 2017 saw the tournament move again\, this time to Chelmsford.

DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE OUTDOORS ON THE ALL WEATHER BOWLS GREEN\n\nENTRIES.  Up to 2 TEAMS PER CLUB (current structure assumes an entry of 12 teams\n\nTEAMS. Will consist of a minimum of 5 players (no maximum)\n\n \nFORMAT.(with 12 teams) The event will be split into 2 groups of 6 teams. Teams will play each other at pairs (3 woods) and triples. Group games over 7 ends\, Knock out games over 8 ends. The top 2 teams from each group will go into the main draw semi finals and final\, third and fourth placed teams will play for the plate\, and 5th and 6th teams for the ‘spoon’\n\nAll teams will therefore play 5 group games and 1 or 2 play off games.\nPlayers can move between pairs and triples as the team captain decides and extra players can be substituted at any time during a match. DESCRIPTION:Our annual charity fund raising tournament in aid of Macmillan Cancer support will be held at Leominster Leisure Centre\, Bridge Street HR6 8EA again this year. This year it is on Sunday 26th November 2023.\nEntry this year is £28.00 per team. Email your entry form to the county competition secretary on competitionsec@hsmba.org and pay by bank transfer using the following details –\nSort code 30-98-97\, account no 61819160\, account name HSMBA\, identify payment as Macmillan.\nAlternatively post your entry form together with cheque payable to HSMBA to Rebecca Cox\, 2 Croft Cottages\, Little Tarrington\, Herefordshire\, HR1 4JD.\nThere is one guaranteed team for each club\, but clubs are invited to indicate how many further teams they would like to enter\, if places are available. However\, please DO NOT include money for any further teams at this stage. Once all entries have been received there will be a draw for any remaining places after all the guaranteed places have been allocated – match details\, playing times etc..\, will be forwarded to each club well in advance of the day.\nIt is our intention that this tournament (which is open to registered and non-registered players) will provide the opportunity for bowlers\, to meet in a friendly and competitive atmosphere – to give everyone the chance to have a thoroughly enjoyable day\, whilst raising as much money as possible for the worthy cause.\nWith up to 40 teams playing – the match format will be teams of four\, playing two woods each; all teams will play four games to a timed format of 40 minutes per game\, with two points for a win and one point for a draw.\nTea\, coffee and cakes will be available throughout the day\, but everyone should bring their own lunch – there will be a separate room available for refreshments and the rest periods between games.\nThis is always a very popular competition and the support we have had in the past is very much appreciated\, but to ensure your place(s) please return your entry form as quickly as possible.\nClosing date will be 23rd October 2023 \n
